sheds, garden sheds, garden sheds brighton

We’re at the start of the last Bank Holiday Weekend in May & the last weekend of the Brighton Festival 2017. So, what is there to look forward to over this (hopefully gloriously sunny) weekend? Here is a list of what what’s on;

  1. If you want to make the most of this stunning weather (and you’re a fan of the theatre) why not head to Brighton’s Open Air Theatre, finishing on Saturday 27th, The Comedy of Errors, one of Shakespeare’s best loved romps is a must see
  2. FK Alexander (I Could Go On Singing) Over the Rainbow, Winner of the Total Theatre Award at Edinburgh Fringe 2016, FK Alexander’s performance is an “affecting & emotional experience” on at the Spire from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th
  3. For the Birds, at a secret woodland location! We love the sound of this, an immersive outdoor experience, again, to be taken advantage of while its warm and balmy out there, the last night is this Sunday (28th)
  4. Britten Sinfonia and Brighton Festival Chorus, Sunday 28th May, Brighton Dome Concert Hall, words and music inspired by great American speeches and poetry
  5. Night Moves – Sunday 28th May, if the weather does take a turn for the worst, why not head to the Duke of York’s Picture House to watch the final film in the Kelly Reichardt season?

If, none of the above sounds particularly appealing (or you’re just planning on hitting the garden and making the most of this glorious weather). Why not take some inspiration from the recent Chelsea flower Show and get to work on your own creations?

It would be weird if we didn’t love sheds here at the Garden Shed Co. From your basic tool shed to tantalised Summer houses we like to think we see potential in all our products. Hygge for the Garden? Creating a Stylish Outdoor Space

the garden shed co

The last couple of years have seen an overhaul of our interiors in the much lauded ‘Hygge’ Scandinavian style. With our interiors sorted, it’s now time to turn our eyes to our external spaces & 2017 looks set to continue with this particular trend.

So, what is Hygge? There is no English translation, quite simply it’s about creating an environment that is both minimalist and cosy. Surrounding yourself with soft furnishings & items that are pleasing to the eye but, also, functional. Blogs like hyggehouse.com are worth checking out as they are specifically dedicated to the theme of Hygge & offer some fantastic ideas and inspiration.

From a functional point of view, if you’re thinking of creating a Scandinavian style garden for the Summer, decluttering is key! Spring is traditionally the time of year we start prepping our gardens for the long (let’s hope) Summer days & nights to come. If you’re looking for stylish garden sheds in Brighton look no further than the Garden Shed Co. They have a fantastic selection of sheds and Summer houses in Brighton at their showroom, or you can peruse their website.

Once you’ve got your storage situation in check (or indeed your Summer house if you want to create a beautiful garden room) it’s time to clear your garden, cutting your grass is an obvious first, also getting rid of any dead plants, shrubs, tree and hedge cuttings. If disposing of your garden waste is something you need help with Brighton and Hove garden waste collection, is now available city wide.

The key to creating a beautiful outdoor space is a simple one (as with most things) ‘Less is More’. It’s amazing what a string of outdoor fairy lights, some simple throws & cushions and maybe a few tea lights can do for your garden. Let’s just hope we get the weather to enjoy it!

Get ready ! it’s time to prep your garden and summerhouses for spring!

As we move into the spring months after the harsh winter, where our gardens, tool sheds, and summerhouses were battered by storm Doris, it’s about time to clean up and get our affairs in order so we can all enjoy a fruitful spring and summer! There’s no shortage of little jobs to keep you busy over the coming weekends!

Our precious gardens will have no doubt been a little neglected over the last few months, a little bit of maintenance goes a long way to managing your workload in the coming months, and just make your space that little bit more welcoming.

Start by clearing dead foliage from the lawn, hedgerows and any drainage ditches, in no time everything will start looking cleaner and more spacious

  • Next, move onto pulling up any weeds and vegetable plant skeletons, this will clear extra space for anywhere that needs topping up
  • Mulch any of those bare spot and when it’s dry enough, ‘top dress those beds’.
  • Spring is also the perfect time to lime your soil to balance its PH level, and to trim and mow the lawn ahead of the better months
  • As the skies are getting clearer, it’s the right time to get a fresh lick of paint or varnish onto your fences and sheds, just to really buff the colour up and add a bit of crispness to everything. Remove any paint that’s splitting and smooth over the rough patches with sandpaper

Spring is so important because it lets wrestle back control of your space from the elements and create the best environment possible for a wholly fruitful summer!

Garden Rooms the alternative outdoor studio space for Brighton Artists – The Garden Shed Co

garden room brighton, sheds brighton, summerhouses brighton,

With the recent boom in shed renovations (see Channel 4’s Shed of the Year) innovative and quirky buildings (Grand Designs) and unusual builds (George Clarkes Amazing Spaces) people are now re-thinking their outdoor space. From a practical point of view, a garden room or summerhouse can provide an excellent outside office space, giving you the peace and quiet you need to work without the distractions of a busy household.

Thinking about your own artist’s studio? The Garden Shed Co offer a wide variety of sheds Brighton. A garden room can easily be converted into extra room to concentrate on your work, somewhere light, airy and a space to truly call “your own”. As an alternative to the classic garden shed or summerhouse in Brighton, a Garden Room is an attractive addition to your property. Typically, garden rooms have more glass included in the structure, offering more light, particularly important if you want to use one as a studio.

The beauty of an outdoor garden building is that you can really get stuck in creatively. Wood is a fantastic medium to work with and can be painted or varnished as you see fit, hence some of the more “interesting” shed renovations we’ve seen (including a shed converted into a road worthy vehicle – if you can believe it). As an addition to your property a garden room adds space, personality, individuality and style.
